Themes for 2010-2011

The term 'life-long learner' is one that I wonder if all educators truly believe in and personally adopt. I know I was and sometimes am a little...intimidated, by that phrase. Most specifically when it comes to the traditional academic learning models, research, and study. I had a couple thoughts that might help all of us out in that area. Please share if you have your own....

  1. 3, 4, or 5 individuals agree to be researchers for each half of the school year, starting with this Fall/August and then switching to a new group in January. These individuals are responsible for finding one article, story, website or intervention per month, sharing it then summarizing it online.
  2. As a group we agree on 8 different subjects that would benefit our area of education, to which 4 are dedicated each semester, then repeated again in the spring.

We'll have to see if the blog is the best place to make this happen or not.

Not to detract from the theme of this post...but having spoken of 'life long learners', here is a website that should make your learning more entertaining- for everyone. Tickets to attend the actual conferences where these presentations are given exceed $3000. I have never seen so much higher level thinking and information in one location. TED.COM
